Sic Bo

An Introduction to Sic Bo

Tai Sai – otherwise known as Sic Bo, is a dice game with Chinese origin; it involves betting on the outcome of dice rolls, with players winning more money on the rarity of the result. It was originally popular in Asia – specifically China – before it was brought over to the United States of America in the early 20th century. It can now be found on all popular Microgaming and Playtech based platforms in the UK and worldwide.

In this guide we’re going to take a look at three popular strategies that players adopt for online play and real casino play. If you are looking for a guide to any other of our games, then check out our baccarat guide and then maybe our roulette guide.

Here we are going to look at three guides:

  • High-roller strategy – this is ideal for customers who have a large bankroll and are looking to take advantage of this.
  • Neutral strategy – for those who have a good bankroll but would like to reduce the risks of losses
  • Low-risk strategy – this is perfect for those who have a smaller bankroll or would like to play with the least risky odds.

Let’s take a look at these strategies below:

High-Roller Sic Bo Strategy

This strategy is aimed at those who are looking to win large amounts of money with high risks. Other table games such as roulette have this option as well, but we feel Sic Bo is ideal for those looking for an instant-quick win.

By placing bets on the combination bets; double 1, double 2 or double 3 and a single bet on the total value of rolls being 8. This allows you to win multiple times on the same bet. The logic here is that if you were to bet on double 4s and a total value of 8 – once double 4s have been rolled another round of gameplay occurs and that bet on 8 loses.

You might have a number of losses, but this can be countered by a large number of wins! Let’s takea look at a number of ways a player can bet with this strategy:

Betting on the number 13

  • First of all, place three bets on double 4, 5 and 6 occurring. Do not place bets on doubles 1, 2 and 3.
  • Then place a single bet on the total value of all rolls being 13.
  • Another bet is to be placed on a dice roll of 4 and 5 on one round.

Betting on the number 8

  • First of all place three bets on double 1, 2 and 3 occurring. Do not place bets on doubles 1, 2 and 3.
  • Then place a single bet on the total value of all rolls being 8.
  • Another bet is to be placed on a dice roll of 2 and 3 in one round.

These are the two bets you need to follow if you want to play the high-roller strategy. This Sic Bo strategy is rather high-risk, so if you want to find a more neutral strategy then take a look at the next one below

Neutral Sic Bo Strategy

If you are looking for good value wins at less risk than the strategy above, then we advise you adopt the neutral strategy. This is perfect for those with lower bankrolls and want to make the most of their money.

With this strategy you will have four opportunities to win at Sic Bo in any go; this strategy is deal for those who require a steady stream of winnings.

Let’s take a look how to implement this strategy below:

Simply bet on number 9!

Number 9 will get you the best returns in this strategy – follow the advice below:

  • Place a total of three bets on the number 9 and two bets on double 1, 5 and 6.
  • This means in total you have bet nine units.

Your returns will be:

  • 21 units if 9 wins
  • 22 units if a double wins
  • A great return for betting a couple of outcomes!

The Low-Risk Sic Bo Strategy

Patient gamblers are best of using the smallest edged bets when playing Sic Bo. Let’s talk you through how those work now:

The small and big bets:

The big and small bets in Sic Bo are closet to even chance (1:1 return). These are essentially the same as the red or black options in roulette. This makes them ideal for a progressive betting system that have grown in popularity over the last ten years.

The system we’re going to look at is the 1, 3, 2, 4 technique:

(The numbers represent betting units, so if you’re betting in units of 10, the sequence is 10, 30, 20, 40. If you’re betting in units of 100, the sequence is 100, 300, 200, 400 etc)

If your bets keep winning, you progress through this sequence. If you win all four bets, you start again. If you lose any bet, you return to the start.

The 1-3-2-4 wins big when all four bets come up, but as long as the first two bets win, you still win, even if the third bet loses.

If your first bet loses, you will have lost 1 unit.

If the second loses, will have lost 2 units (bet 4, won 2)

If the third bet loses, you will make a profit of 2 units.

If the third and fourth win, your total profit is 10 units.

But even if the fourth bet loses, you still have a profit of 2 units

This is the strategy we advise all of our beginner players to play. Good luck at the tables from all the team!
